"Pysanka" Article in the Daily Press

Around Easter time the Peninsula Daily Press newspaper carried an extensive article about the Ukrainian art of "pysanka" decorating or "writing".  It seems that without our knowledge a "pysanka" workshop has been held at the Virginia Living Museum for the last few years.  Based on photographs, the workshop leaders and participants were quite proficient.  There was no mention of Russia; the reporter was very definite that it was a Ukrainian art form.  The only error was that the tradition supposedly originated in China.  Wally contacted the Daily Press reporter expressing our appreciation for the article highlighting one of our ancient traditions.  Submitted by Andy Grynewytsch
