TUCA Christmas Party
This year's TUCA Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, January 6, starting at 4:00 p.m., at the home of Jackie and Nick Azaransky in Virginia Beach. This is a most appropriate date for us Tidewater Ukrainians to get together and celebrate Ukrainian Sviatyj Vechir (Christmas Eve or literally Holy Evening) according to the Julian calendar, which had been used by all Ukrainian churches in the past and is still used by many of our people for important holidays.
We hope that most of you will come to join us. Please wear your embroidered Ukrainian finery, if you have it, something Christmasy, if you don't. Please be prepared to at least attempt to sing carols, Ukrainian, American, or any other kind you know. And last, but certainly not least, please bring food and drink, preferably something that is a traditional Ukrainian Sviatyj Vechir dish, otherwise anything Ukrainian, and as a last resort anything you are able to put together. Our Christmas Parties are practically famous for their overflowing table, so please lets not disappoint anyone.
Except for the election of officers, which shouldn't take long, this will be a party, so feel free to bring a friend who may be interested in Ukraine or Ukrainians.
For directions please contact the TUCA Secretary, Andy Grynewytsch (AndyGryn[AT]aol.com).
